Wife and I usually do 400 to 500 when we need to push it.
We did a 1000 mile day once in under 12 hours across Canada. I later found out that was an Iron Butt run, pfffft that was easy I thought to myself. People actually register for that?
you averaged 85mph for 12 hrs? thats pretty good. what were you riding?
While on a trip how many miles do you like to run down in a day? I am hung up on 300 max. a day, never really do much more, what say you?
I average between 300 and 350 miles a day @ 45 miles an hour. It is less about miles than it is about hours in the saddle though. I spend between 6 and 7 hours a day riding. With breaks for breakfast and lunch, it works out to between 8 and 9 hours of time on the road. That way I don't feel too rushed, or over tired at the end of the day.
I don't care for anything under 700 miles in a day on tour. Maybe that's how I did over 42K last year and am over 41K so far. This year was shortened by a sprained knee early in the year and my wife's stroke a month ago.
I have done over 1,100 miles in just under 24 hours and many 900 miles rides each year. For me it is a test on how age is affecting me. I'm only 76 and have not slowed down yet.
NICE JOB Mate! LOVE to hear it.............
Have you thought about going IBA? (Iron Butt Association?) Sounds like you are a natural.
Other than IBAers, I rarely find someone who beats me and you did by 10K miles. I average 32K/yr for years (except for this year). You knocked off 42K. RALLY NICE!

That's cookin'!
Can you confirm that the unit of measure you are referring to is miles and not kilometers?
There is a huge difference between 1000 miles and 621 miles (1000 kilometers) in 12 hours.
[QUOTEI am just hoping that 300-350 a day allows us to still enjoy the sites, I am guess the 9 day trip to be 2500-3000. Wisconsin to Maine via Canada and back through Niagara Falls and Michigan][/QUOTE]
Going through my back yard? I will be doing a similar ride next June, Sault Ste. Marie to Bar Habor.

20K miles on the road glide this year, got another 2K on the Dyna since I picked it up in September. In kilometers that's 35K all in, that's normal for me.

Average? ... Think about how many tanks of fuel needed ( at least 5 at that speed ) ... **** call ... that took up at least another hour ... I've put together some long days in the saddle ( single and two up, some with a trailer .. Bushtec .. on the back too ) That's an "average" that's ... well ... let's just sat "better than average" ???
If people want to ride interstates to their destination, that is their prerogative. Me and the wife, well it's the 'journey, not the destination'.
I'd rather ride back roads than the superslab. Many times we have seen things that would have gone unnoticed if we had taken the interstate.
We have always ridden 45 to 50 mph, no matter where we were going. If I get a vehicle behind us, I just pull off and let them go. Don't want a 'mad' cager that is in a hurry behind us. Now, if there is rain on the horizon in the direction we are heading or we need to go, I'll hit the nearest superslab to go on fast. Other than that, I plan the "ride" not the destination..........

They ain't many Canadian roads where 85mph can be sustained for any length of time without attracting unwanted police attention.
