Default Kickstand Problems

Have my 17 Road Glide Ultra a little over 30 days now and just can not get use to this kickstand. Bike seems to roll forwards its weird. Comming off a Honda this was never a problem. Almost dropped it yesterday at work just tried to move it a little and the kickstand gave way. Are there adjustments one can make don't like what i am reading things like just get use to it. Going back to my dealer today to have it Checked out. Any info would be great

Can you please be more specific? Does it roll forward when on the stand? The Harley stands are one of the better kickstands on the market. Maybe you're just not used to it?

My RGS seems to do that moreso than my previous Harley's also. However, I don't give it much mind because when weight is on the jiffy stand, it will not fold backward. The "jiffy stand" (Harley-speak for kickstand) won't fold up if there's any weight on it.

Have someone at the dealership show you how the side (Jiffy) stand works. It might take some getting used to but it's a tried and true setup.

That is something you're gonna get used to .......the best stand on the market really.......kick it out....put some pressure on it while laying it down and it LOCKS in place.........yes it moves forward or backward and you THINK it's gonna fall.......but as long as it's in the SLOT.......it won't do it.......takes time to get used to but the best out there........

I'll have to agree it will move, but not fold up.

it isn't a problem, no you didn't almost drop it (assuming that you put it down), and no, it didn't 'give way' (again assuming you put it down).

get down to it's level and take a look at it. there is a 'locking tab' that when you deploy the jiffy stand, will go into a slot. come hell or high water, if you have the weight of the bike on the jiffy, it isn't going to fail.

I would suggest, before going back to your dealer, look at the illustration and compare it with your bike. make sure the top nut is tight. if all is well, you'll save yourself some embarrassment.

The kickstand on my Dyna bugged me for awhile. Really wants to flip up, but as stated once you put weight on it cannot do so. Once in the garage I was fighting with the hose from a pressure washer around the front tire and not paying attention I set the bike down to have the kickstand flip back up on me, my foot slipped and I had to lay it down. Fortunately done the way I did it I found the bike stops on base to the forward controls and sits there leaned over.

What I do now before I get off the bike as a habit is I grab the bars and yank the bike backwards so I know it's fully locked down.

Mine never rolls forward because when I stop, it's in gear. And when I stop to put the kickstand down, I give it a little tap to make sure it's all the way forward. I've never had a kickstand fold up on me.

Oh...I've tried to "jiffy" it but I always end up kicking it, which is why I call it a KICKstand.
