Default Wave Etiquette

As much as I really enjoy 2 lanes, the fact remains that some times it is necessary for me to use the big highways. The speed limits on my local 4 lanes is 65 -70, but as usual most are doing 70 - 75+. At those speeds, in order to follow customary etiquette, and given that I'm in my mid sixties, waving to my fellow bikers nearly pulls my arm out of it's socket and by the end of a day of riding my shoulder actually hurts.

My question is this, on the big highways and at high speed, would it be rude if I didn't wave? Now I know that given my profile name means I'm a pr**k, I just don't want to be a rude pr**k. Any advice would be appreciated.

Some wave, some don't.
If you don't feel comfortable at highway speed, then don't wave.

Nobody is going to think less of you for not waving.
And if they do, who cares.

You are overthinking this.

At seventy, with at least one hundred feet between you and the driver in the opposite lane? I really don't think that they'll notice. And if they do unless you know them you won't catch any crap.

Apparently this has been beat to death. But I will offer this. Both bikes have high enough or wide enough bars that all I ever do, if I feel like it is raise a couple fingers off of my left bar handle to acknowledge passerby riders. Sometimes I do not wave at all and especially on the highway. If other bikes are 60 feet on the other side of the road, who gives a flip? After all, nobodyknows me...

Please do a search on waving. It has been discussed to death a dozen times.
