I just set it for the fastest route and go. Since it doesn't have Bluetooth and I don't have a com system, I just glance at it telling me where to go. I can't hear it.

I use it locally in an urban environment and when I travel long distance. It works well for my needs and only rarely have I missed a turn. It has lane guidance and that helps a lot.

Overall, for $120, it does the job to my satisfaction.

I do the same with my Garmin 2689. Nice size screen, lifetime maps, and a solid mount from RAM. It has more options than I actually use. The Trip Planner is handy if you want to take a specific route.

Although many use Trip Planner, I haven't had the need for it. Yet.

My screen is 5". Decent enough. I also have lifetime maps. Maybe the next one I get I'll buy one with traffic. Because I don't use Bluetooth, I'm not sure what other options i'd want.

I find being able to talk on the phone very distracting. I tried listening to music with an iPod (yes) and didn't like that either. I'm also not into group rides.

Love the zumo and my 660 has been great for some years now. They can now be had for about half price of original retail but even I am looking to the 590. Just keep hoping that Garmin will come out with an HD version. If they ever do that to improve the visual seeability life would be great indeed.
