Default When is it time to pull the trigger?

After looking at some of the new softail bikes, i think the looks are ok, but the motor and frame seems to be the real deal. Over the life of the M8 motor which probably will be 15-20 years, most all of us will purchase one or more with the M8 motor. Do you guys/gals think it's best to pull the trigger now or maybe wait hoping they may make a model and color that is different from what we now see. My tastes are that of the old style bikes and thay is why I have a deluxe, but the new deluxe just aint the same. The new heritage is to dark for my tastes. Maybe wait and hope that sometime soon the mothership will design a springer with the new motor/frame or make a deluxe or heritage with two tone colors with lots of chrome? What opinions and or advise do you folks have?

When you're aiming to kill...

JK, it's all in the mater of negotiating a deal so...IMO...anytime is good, but late fall/winter is said to be best for buying vehicles (2 & 4 wheel type). Go in & talk #'s...see what you find.

Well, you can wait and wait, hoping to be clever, or you can be riding that new bike. Life is short, and if you wait too long, one day it will be too late.

A springer is not going to happen.

Since everything is so new, logically it is better to wait a few years because with a major redesign, a few problems always come up and are resolved after a short time. That being said, if you see something that moves you now, then buy it. Keep in mind, no bike is ever going to 100% to your liking right off the showroom floor. I am a believer in keeping the bike you have as long as you can until it gets to the point where you just can’t keep up with the repairs and it spends more time being repaired than ridden. The new Softails are a huge improvement in ride, handling etc.

One way to decide what to do is test ride the new bikes. Then go home and write down everything that was better about the new bikes compared to your bike. Next write down how much it would cost to upgrade your bike to match or at least close the gap between it and the new ones. Now take a look at the price of the new ones. What makes more sense?

I have numerous boxes of high dollar brake and suspension parts I am trying to find the time to install on my old bike. It made more sense for me. Besides, there’s something satisfying about a well tuned Evo that can’t be conveyed in a specification sheet.

Here is another wrinkle for your equation. Used bike prices are plummeting. You can buy a gently used bike in great shape for $3,500 to $5,500 these days. You can buy four of them for the price of one new one. Are the new ones four times as good? That depends on what your definition of the word good is and what does four represent in common core math.

At the end of the day it is your money and your decision. Is there something inherently wrong with your bike that has caused you to fall out of love or is it a case of greener grass? A new bike bike could be a different devil in the same old hell.

What shirt should I wear today?

You can wait until the MOCO puts out that perfect bike for you that suits all of your taste but then you will likely never buy a bike. IMHO the best time to pull the trigger is when you see something you like with a deal you can accept

I agree with you 100%. I like the m8 engine, except for the black cover. The ride and drive is good. The looks leave a lot to be desired for me. I like chrome or aluminum look.I don't like the bags odr shiels looks on the Heritage.
If your not jonesing for the 114". How about the deluxe, add a shield and some better looking bags. Swap out the turn signals front and rear. If the colors don't work, get black and paint it. Life is short use it while you can. Enjoy.

I forgot the best time to buy is when you can afford it.
