Primary chain oil?

First of all I had a freinds wife pick me up some new primary gaskets for my 85 fxwg from the harley dealer. I needed the gaskets and lube to finish the job. They sent her back with with a spray chain lube for the rear drive chain( I'm belt driven too)> Being that the dealer is 45 mile away and I can't get there till saturday what other lube can I use that I can get from a parts store ?

Use Mobil 1 15W-50 car oil. It will be fine for your primary.

You need to know if yer using organic or synthetic oil and stay wit h it. Swithching back and forth can gum yer clutches up.

i use synthetic ATF. it's formulated for clutches. course about any lubrication fluid will work in primary. chain lubrication and heat removal from the clutch housing is all you are doing.

15w40 diesel oil is cheap and easy to find and I have been using it for years. I have also used several brands of 20w50 car oil....works just as good. 15w40 has great lubrication qualities and is very similar to the original HD primary fluid. Almost anything will work in there.....

The expensive synthetic stuff in there, well it simply is not needed.
