Default need some help

My dad gave me his old harley sportster 1200 I think its a 75 my question is my dad lost the title and the bike has no plates when I called the dmv there is no record for this bike. What can I do to get a title for it the bike has not been driven in about 10yrs or more so hasnt been registered since then I live in Tx.

find out from your dad what state it was purchased and registered in when he got it, then contact thatstate DMV. Sounds like it wasn't Texas

it had Tx. plates on it but then my dad gave it to my uncle and then my uncle gave it back to him and thats when parts were missing and plates were gone

I don't know about Texas, but here in Kentucky you can appear before the local judge and sign a paper stating that the bike hasn't been stolen and the judge will issue you a new title. I had to do this on an older small bike several years ago. Good luck on the older bike, I drive an '80 model truck that my dad bought new, truck only worth about $500 to anybody else, but worth the world to me.

here in GA you dont need a title on a vehicle over 10 yrs old, just have your dad write you a bill o sale and take it to the tag office and they should give you your papers.

Contact Tom at Lost Prarie cycles in Groesbeck Tx. tell him you need the name of the title service he uses out of Houston
meanwhile I will look for the info I have it burried here some where but ran across it a little while back when going through so old notes
