Default Won't start

I'm looking at buying a '14 883 that was crashed. There is superficial damage mostly cosmetic. The problem is it wont start turn on ignition you can hear the fuel pump hit the starter and nothing any ideas what could be tbe problem. Thanks for any help

Yeah, turn the kill switch to the "run" position.

Mostly cosmetic? I'd be more concerned about the non-cosmetic stuff. Buying a crashed bike that won't start might not be the best idea.

Try to jump it with a car battery or a car that’s NOT RUNNING. if it starts it likely just the battery.

Some bikes have a tip over sensor that wont let the bike restart after a spill until you go through a specific sequence. Check your manual to see if the bike has the tip over feature and go from there.

If the fuel pump is priming, its in the run position already...

that's usually cleared by cycling the ignition. the odometer will display 'tip' and you turn the ignition off, and then on again, and it should be clear.

Either make the seller get it started, or offer him twenty five cents on the dollar.
