New gear set is on the way, Baker 7, 5 yr warranty vs hd 1 year on new gear set, could not make sense of that, but with no reasons for original fail I cant risk another grinder, very happy with everything else I have upgraded ! life is an education, already having withdrawals a whole week with no ride! Thank you all for replies!!
That does not make any sense to me.
You have an almost new bike that the dealer installed a stage kit on. The tranny goes south and they deny warranty because of the stage kit.
But if you pay for the new gear set from HD they will give you a 1 year warranty???? If that was the case they should be warranting the failed one you have now?
Any aftermarket upgrades can void the warranty, yes I gave a da huh look of how would you warranty this new one but not yesterdays. But if you have $ a lawyer could argue, hd bought the baker direct and I got the 10% discount, and hopefully no hassle warranty for mild upgrades, I knew fine print, my bad, also one more disgruntled consumer! Short run I pay, long run loyalty to brand is scarred!
Is what I was told. But the upgrades I have done , I believe were better and will stand many years and miles of wear! ,at least with hd you can find better made upgrades. Might take few years to break even though! My 2011 didnt make this much power and torgue, and the old Rapids 125 is probably in the barn remembering the good ole days!
I have to say I am very unhappy with Baker Drivetrain products. 2018 CVO Roadglide with Baker Grudgebox, broke a mainshaft! They say probably won't be under warranty because I improperly installed the clutch. I used the 2018 HD service procedure and specs to install all components. This is the second Grudgebox in 3 mos. I sent the first one back to them with .010" runnout on the mainshaft as thought that was causing noise problems. They denied that there was excessive runnout and are not honoring warranty. I had to pay $500 for replacement of mainshaft.
I'm 63 years old and have been repairing motorcycles my whole life since I was 12 years old. When the main shattered, I was in 3rd gear, rolled on the throttle, and it snapped! I don't drive my bike like a bat out of hell. She is my baby and I take care of it.
I summize that Baker touts a lifetime warranty for selling their product only and won't honor any warranty. Sad thing is I'm a dealer, and they don't seem to care if I sell their product!
