ok, took the derby cover off, loosened the cable adjuster, loosened the locknut, turned the adjusting screw in and pulled the clutch handle in 3 times, turned the screw in again till it botomed out, backed it off 1/2 turn, tighented locknut, tightened cable adjuster, pulled clutch handle in a few times and adjusted lever so its 1/8 play in cable and put derby cover on.
gears 1,2 4 and 5 are so quiet you cant hardly hear them, 3rd still has the clunk...
made sure all fluids are full....
did I do this right? according to the DIY, the manual and the fix my hog video i did....
You could try to tighten the cable up a little.1/16 min.
Also check primary chain.
Some people claim that changing the tranny fluid to Redline Heavy Shockproof works.
I do my own service, too and I was adjusting the clutch every 5000 miles per the service manual. I decided not to do that any more and I will adjust it when it needs it. I think it is the 5000 mile service interval to adjust because a lot of people would not even know when it needs adjusting, but I DON'T think the service tech necessarily does the full adjustment if it feels right to them. Just my opinion. I'll adjust the clutch when it begins to feel like it needs it.
