^^ I don't remember what brand clear coat I used but I bought some of the better stuff from the parts store. I would just avoid the $0.97 stuff from Walmart and you should be fine. I've used Krylon on things in the past and had it turn out decent, use several coats.

https://www.spraymax.com/en/products...2k-clear-coat/

Used this on the wheels of my Ducati M900 that were rattle canned and holding up well.

Excellent , thanks guys ! Appreciate the help . I'm guessing just a good quality clear will do the the job . It's going to be awhile before I actually get to it , only have about 20,000 km on these tires now . If I get ambitious enough I may just do it this winter . Again Thanks !

If you want it to hold up well use Spray Max 2K two part clear. It's expensive for rattle can at $18-20 a can but applies well and is as durable as your other painted parts. There are a few threads on here where members have used it and had great results.

There are pics in this thread of a couple projects I did using Spray Max. When you look at the pic of the rear fender you'll see the reflection of the tree that was behind me when I snapped the pic.

I do recall reading a couple of those posts back in the past . I'm pretty sure one of the dealers I use for auto parts carries that stuff . I'd rather buy a good quality clear and only have to do it once . Much appreciated Rizz

The spray max two part clear is good stuff. But remember you will still have to wet sand the clear to get rid of the orange peel that you will have.

Will do , I've painted with rattle cans in the past , did my hardbags , sidecovers , fillers etc . I just wasn't sure about clear coating over bare aluminum . Wet sanding definitely makes the finish project look more professional . Appreciate the heads up ..

I pulled everything off the bike and chromed it.
The bugs around here have a Superglue quality to them that would pock-mark anything else.
