I wish someone had told me that in 1985/86 when I bought in at around .40c and sold out around the end of 2006 (Nov?) @ around $65. I really don't remember. It's been awhile

you sir are one of the few. Very few. Good for you I might add. However that was not the point of my statement. People made money off Enron,GE,Blockbuster,Ford..................However just because a stock has had a good day or a good run doesn’t mean going forward it’s worth it. The moral of the story is as of 4-30-2020 is it a good buy?. Not what was a good buy in 85/86. When you sold at 65$ I gotta imagine that’s around a high for the stock it has been a very long time since a share has been relatively close to that. As of now which is what we are discussing the value now, not 35 years ago. There are far better places to put your money. We aren’t really comparing apples to apples. Look at the track record of the stock. That’s what I’m saying. Look at the product lineup, anarchy in the upper ranks, massive unemployment, outdated product line, dividend cut of 95%, fierce competition, over priced under vale product. I’d be willing to put down a share or two on HOG this time next year won’t be at 8% higher

So I would add in RDRS should be across the line on the tour models in the last.
I love how Harley has to put their own Acronym on an Industry Standard Feature set. Everybody else calls it what it is....Ride modes and Traction Control....and many competitors have it as a Standard Feature too! Just like ABS has been a standard on BMWs for a while now. Hey, we're not talking "nice to have" features here. These things are SAFETY items. They are important, yet Harley continues to come to the table last with them, and then have the audacity to charge extra for them, like they were a piece of accessory chrome.

Folks, what we have to worry about the most about our Company is that we go from being a coveted brand to one that is a laughing stock of the Motorcycle industry. I can't stress this point enough. The tricks that Harley has been pulling on us for years are starting to get us looked at by folks that aren't Harley owners yet( you know, the ones we WANT, as new customers) as fools. They can't believe we are stupid enough to put up with these Marketing Shenanigans. I personally know riders that wouldn't own a Harley because they know they would be looked at as a stupid buyer, all because of the way Harley has marketed things to us.

Harley HAS made some technical improvements over the years. But we don't get credit for those improvements. Mainly because they have come too late and not enough. And when they have come, Harley has charged for them like they are optional accessories. At a time when many mfgrs have them as standard equipment. This ATTITUDE has to change! QUICKLY!!

Yeah, maybe we need some new products, maybe not. But what we REALLY need is a NEW REPUTATION! One gained from providing an EXCELLENT product, with the latest AND greatest tech, at a Reasonably Priced level, for the customer, and the MoCo. And a product that doesn't have an Extended Warranty Program that's 10% of the price of the bike, which tells a potential customer that he/she is going to have mechanical issues, otherwise the Warranty would cost a LOT less.

For all those Negative Nellies out there that want to cry " Go buy a Honda then", you know, the stupid ones that have fallen prey to these marketing tactics by Harley, I want you to, FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE, get you head out of the sand, and answer this question for me. Why in the world shouldn't Harley have a goal to put out the BEST, Most TROUBLE-FREE, tech advanced motorcycle on the market? AND, with a 60,000 mile(unlimited years) Factory Warranty included.

Think about it....just think about that. Then ask yourself, why WOULDN'T I buy one of those?

Spot on GOV5, however there are tons of people on this site that don’t want fuel injection, abs, a computer or any electronics, and that’s seemingly who the MOCO listens to.
Fully agree that a non- harley owner would actually be buying down if they came off a fairly recent non-Harley-Davidson as far as technology goes.

you are the exception....BMW riders are more likely to have a significant breakdown in the first years of ownership

Because I don't need one. Any warranty is wrapped up in the price of the vehicle. In the past fifteen years I've owned three Harleys and never suffered a failure of any kind. I ride them pretty hard. It's not my company. I really don't care what they do. When they build nothing but motorcycles I don't want, I'll buy a brand with a motorcycle I do want. As far as charging for things like ABS etc. Do you think they get to use that technology for free?

Anybody who's that scared of what other people think, clearly doesn't have the ***** to ride a Harley anyway.
