Default Tire Pressure warning light

Recently I saw my low tire pressure warning light on my Lexus ES 350 dash. It turned out to be a nail in my drivers side rear and it saved me a big hassle. Amazing little sensor in the air nozzle where you pump air. Will HD or theor other MC manufacturersadopt that technology soon, that is what we need in Motor Cycles.

Are you sure about the sensor being in the valve stem. I doubt the sensor is rotating part. Your ABS system is able to detect a tire that is making more revulsions than the others so it detects a low tire on my Impala that way. You would need ABS front and back and tires that are exactly the same circumference/ air pressureto incorperate a leak detect system and I still don't think it would be worth the trouble?

Other MC manufactures are starting to offer tire pressure systems. The new Kawi Concours 14 has it standard, and BMW offers it as an option.

That is what the mechanic (non lexus) told me. He said there is a n electronic sensor in valve stem that sends an electronic signal to the computer and so on. Then I question how that sensor is powered? etc etc. I am not sure but I like to understand this technology. pleaseshed more light.

Most tire pressure remote detection systems ue the rotation speed of the tire relevant to the other tires as explained above.
Neat worthless tool added to the electronics of vehicles. It won't detect that small variation that adds to tire wear and gas mileage, but it will detect a tire low enough to become a blowout hazzard.

Bad thing is, people will get the system, and then neglect to check tire air pressures because " the bike does that" or "the car does that"

I had seen this same type system installed in the new International Road Tractor, but it had a seperate little "lug" that was installed in the rim, and a sensor was mounted between the two rear axles that "detected it".
Used the same technology of tire rotational speed.

My nissan Titan used something on the valve stem and it without a doubt could tell 1 pound air differences. I oculd bring up my navigation menu on the air pressure and it would tell me the exact air pressure at all 4 tires. I would check it with a hand pressure gauge and ill be dammed if it was accurate. I am not sure if there was a battery in each valve stem or what... no clue.....

My Chrysler Crossfire has the system that uses the valve stem sensors. It will simply tell if one tire is 25% low on air, not which tire.

Has to be in the valve on my Tacoma, got the light checked all 4 tires and the light stayed. Called the service dept and the tech says "did you check the spare?" Sure enough, the spare was low, filled it and the light went away.

I dont undesrtand this rotation speed. A lower pressure tire will rotate the same speed or just as many turns in a given distance as the high pressure tire. So there is a sensor in the valve stem?. Why not in a motor cycle. I think that willbe a great safety item.
