I have no problem with them. Some of them are very nicely done. A buddy of mine has an 06 SE Ultra and loves it. Personally I could not constitute the price. And for the most part they are not my taste. Too much bling. But if you've got it like that by all means go for it. At least for that kind of money you can actually put some good miles on them unlike the bar-hoppin' billet bardges some people invest $40k in.
Hubby loved the 06' SE Ultra...only turned it down because of the $5k markup. At msrp it was cheaper then buying the add-ons seperately. That's how I got my bike though Have to agree with you on the bar hoppers.
I've limited the $$ I want to spend on the Deluxe at this point because I'm sooo darn indecisive. My Bro-in-law has spent well over buying an SE on his RK.....If you got the $$$ nothing wrong with buying one...but s an investment? Nahhhhh.....
I never looked at a bike for an investment, stocks bonds land and houses. Bikes cause I want it and I ride way to much for an investment. My last bike had 40,000 miles in the first 2 years.
I don't want any one to get the wrong idea here don't care what you ride. all i'm wandering is what made you go with that instead of buying a stocker and making it what you want............
Well as for me, I've wanted a Fatboy since they entered the H.D lineup. Three kids later I find myself in a position knowing I can take of my family etc. Fast forward to 2005...S.E. Fatboy. Just what I've waited a lifetime for. Sold the Sportster. Never looked back. As for "making it your own". 80 spokes, 2/1, race tuner......It's simply what I wanted. B.T.W. As badly as I wanted this bike I absolutely refused to pay over m.s.r.p. And resale never comes into mind.
The CVOs just feel different. They are the cream of the crop. I think its safe for me to say that once you own one you will never go back to a stocker again---my 2 cents.
I had been lusting over a SE Fatboy for a few years, and thats what got me looking much closer at all the CVO bikes. I did narrow my choice down to either a SE Fatboy or a SE Deuce. It turned out that I got a 03 SE Deuce(100 anniversary Gold Centennial edition)for a fantastic price from a friend of mine who has much more money than brains. From what I understand in 2003 the MoCo CVO produced about 5000 bikes total and of that total about 500 were FXSTD-SE's.Sure I would have loved to buy a brand new unit, but I hate the deprecation hit. In 2003 the MSRP of my Deuce was $28,999 IIRC, and they were selling over list due to availability. I have seen the same bike as mine with similar mileage (just under 4K) selling for around $20K.....lets just say I paid a good bit less than that. So far at every event/run I have I have been to people still sweat the 4 year old Deuce. I didn't buy it for its resale value (although I am quite sure it will stay in the higher range).....I bought it because I like it, and because I want to ride the hell out of it. I also have a 2004 Fatboy with about 5500mi. on the clock, and it has its share of add-on's, and it is a fine looking bike in its own right, but the CVO unit is just a bit more.... In any case I buy my bikes to ride them, not to try to make a few bucks by selling them.....I have a job for that.
highly unlikely to find 10 CVO's just like mine at a rally. I wouldnt buy a new one for sure, that 08 springer softail looks awesome tho... I'll do what I did with my 02 model wait a few years and then look for oneused.
Lost1 is right .. its how bad do you want _that_ particular bike ...

Samethinking here.
When I bought my 2005 Fat Boy SE it was 16 months old and only had 1,000 miles on it. I paid $500 less thanNADA said a stock CVO Fat Boy was worth, at the time I bought it and the original owner had put $6,000 in extras on it. IMHO, it was a lot better deal than buying a stock new bike.

.........or these guy's have more money than brains?
Let me see if I understand this correctly? In your mind's eye, just because a guy elects to spend his hard earned cash however the helll he pleases, that makes him light in the brain department? Frankly, most folks should be so fortunate as to have such 'decisions/options' at their disposal.
