What do they say, if you haven’t dropped it, you will. I guess I mean, if you haven’t lost something off your bike, you will.

I feel the most sorry for the guys who lose a saddlebag. When I bought my current bike, the first thing I did was switch to bolts. On a touring bike, if you did take them off, it’s ugly with a capital U. But, on my shovelhead and my EVO, I did not securely latch the top. On both bikes, they blew off. Of course, in traffic. I found them, but had to buy gently used lids.

I lost my shifter peg on my sporty. I heard it fall off and was able to notice what it was and stop. Not too bad a walk back to find it and snugged it on as best I could until I got home to a wrench and blue loctite.

My buddy rides a Heritage and forgot to buckle up. Took me miles to stop him and list the things that blew out. We found them all. Fortunately, back county two lane so no damage, just a good laugh and free beer.

Not falling off the bike, but leaving sunglasses on the gas pump has had me looking back several times. Gas cap on the seat, but sunglasses. Both times weather was getting darker. I’ve got a better routine now. Been 7-8 years since I’ve left a pair while gassing up.

I’ve probably lost other things, but that is where memory loss comes in handy. “Now, where did I leave that ...?”

Gloves, I don’t count gloves, they are like socks in the dryer, it always shows up in with the wife’s stuff years later. (Our weather and mountain passes change temperature a lot, so we’ll often switch gloves when we stop.)

But I have a friend who lost his glove. He was riding to my house first time. It is hard to find. Even UPS gets lost here. So he took off his gloves to call me. Hey, you are only a 1/2 mile away. He put his gloves on his lap and found the turn. Sans one glove. We immediately back tracked. No glove. If it shows up in my wife’s stuff, I’ll mail it to him, though that was some 7 years ago. I think a coyote got it.

That’s freaking funny as hell (as long as she didn’t get hurt)

A few friends and I pulled out of a bar parking lot after having more beer than we should have, amongst other things. Hammered down and my helmet flew off my head (helmet state). Guess I forgot to strap it on but I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to really care, so I just laughed and kept trucking. Never lost anything off a bike but I tend to over tighten everything.

Yes, I had the battery cover fall off my sportster when riding. The old style clips were known to do that.

Bought an old clapped out Honda CL360 scrambler way back when I was still in high school that was sitting behind a guys shed. Got it home, cleaned out the tank and carb, sanded the points and got her fired up! Had it out in front of the house dumping the clutch and pulling the front wheel up, and after about three or four rounds of this I decided to see how long I could keep the front end on the air. Revved her to the moon and dumped the clutch, lifted the front end and bigger than chit the front end came apart and the wheel was hanging by the brake cable🤦 Not a fun landing!

Dropped an exhaust slip-on off an old handa. rode the last half mile to work with it on my lap. Made the boss chuckle.

Did it have a cotter pin type faster on the inside? Seems like a lot of folks lost saddle bags. My clip came off twice but I didn’t lose my bags. I was afraid I was going to so I replaced the cotter pin type fastener with the Axle cap nuts like you’d find on a tricycle wheel. Those MFs don’t come off for crap.
