Loctite has been mentioned a few times here and as I said YOU CANT LOCTITE EVERYTHING. For instance Loctite could NOT have been used on the many battery covers that were mentioned, unless Im missing something. Yes, just ABOUT all the rest it may have been the answer. Based on all the responses here I will check to see what I CAN loctite and do so. Im sure others are thinking the same way 😁.
I think others obviously realize when we mention Loctite, we are only referring to threaded fasteners that can loosen. Not referring to battery covers, etc., at all.
NOT SURE WHY YOU ARE SAYING THIS in caps.
Loose threaded fasteners are just one of those realities on a Harley, not trying to ram it down your throat.
Haven’t had anything come off yet. But then, I’m pretty detail oriented when it comes to these kinda things. Everything is torqued according to spec and at the high end. And every screw/nut is locktite’d with either blue or red. That being said, I have dropped my glasses sometime when I forgot I was resting them not he saddlebag...
my HD mechanic friend put it on.... no locktite and apparently not tight enough.... put foot down at a light and it hit the ground..... unfortunately while it was loose, my leg keeping it from falling by the wayside, it rubbed thru the paint on my tank. $300 dollars later for a take off tank for a 2013 FLHTK in the proper two tone color and I was back in business, OEM new tank was going to be $1600 dollars..... the old tank is in the spares pile.. with a little fingernail sized imperfection in the paint
When I put the top end together last week I made sure I used 243 Loctite and torqued it
Footboard insert on my 07 Deluxe came off while my foot was on the highway peg. I had been riding that way for quite awhile so didn't even try to find it. Also had a speaker grill fall off. I was going rather slow on a country road and found it in the long grass.
I lost the battery cover off my VTX riding to Vegas.
I lost my toothbrush riding over the Lolo Pass on my RK. The nice gal at the hotel front desk gave me a spare.
I’m still missing that one part that fell off during that really big pot hole. It fell off, rolled down my pant leg, fell on the road, and guy behind me ran over it.
