Yep, after all these years, I was first at the scene of an accident!
Beautiful Virginia Fall day; I was winding out 4th gear 55+ mph, mid-shift; big black dog leaped out from a ditch.
I bounced, rolled and skidded about 60 feet down the roadway. While I was imobilized in the middle of the deserted road, I could hear the dog in the ditch, whimpering as it struggled to get up but he did eventually wander off through the sourgum field.
Old man pulled up in his farm use mid 80s Luv Pu truck I told him I hit a dog he replied Ive been trying to find him lol
He helped me get the bike up and back on the blacktop.
Highway bars F &R will need replacing, the kickstand is funked up too other than that the bike came out okay.
****ed up my 20+ y/o schott, my boots & my helmet and Im gonna be a sore Virginian for a bit!
My hip is swollen and blue, pulled one of those small muscles under my shoulder blade, and somehow bruised 3 finger tips lol
Im digging into a bottle of Makers, and, now that its legal, Ill be medicating with some of this years crop.
My hips still quite swollen and Im still sore in a few places, but Im back to riding.

Jackie got the worst of this thing stitches on his leg, belly, side and back. $600 vet bill AND they cut off his *****! Nothin he did deserved having his ***** whacked off
oh well, he was feeling good, moving fine on pain pills. We made fast friends. Jackies cool
His owners were super nice, the guy tried giving me his leather jacket lol
Ive been invited to drop by anytime for a cup of tea or a cold beer, Im sure Ill take them up on the offer, nice folks
Well, saying that sucks is an understatement. Glad you're okay. The jacket is a little beat up, but it looks to be repairable. The bike doesn't sound like it was too bad off, all things considered.

Had a dog bounce off the side of the bike once, came out between parked cars
Could not find him & later heard from my friends down the street - Dog was OK
Met the owner & they said I might have saved the dogs life
He had been chasing cars & now apparently was cured
I was riding last month and had three Pyrenees dogs running at me while I was doing 60mph in a curve. I was able to avoid them but my buddy behind me ran over one with his Ultra. He rode it out but we had to go drink a couple of beers before he was calmed down. The dog ran off and we couldn't find anyone who owned it or would claim him.
Glad you're here to tell about it! I recently spotted a deer about 6 feet from the road that I just knew was going to jump into my path, but thankfully it didn't.
Out of curiosity, did you swerve to avoid the dog or just keep straight and hope for the best?
