After spending half my youth in a tent on the side of a mountain chasing elk, enduring rain and snow, I wouldn't sleep in a Goddamned tent if someone offered me $500 to do so.
our set up in Daytona last year.
i am not a hard core camper, an ozark trail and a sleeping bags works for me and the wife. We take a air mattress also. I actually sold this one when i got back, it was just to big. This is the 6 person, i ended up buyer a 4 person coleman tent. Is a little smaller and lighter. Have not camped in it yet.
Disclaimer, I don't have this or know much about it, but I've always found it interesting as it's aimed at motorcycle camping. There's a bunch of YouTube videos on this tent.

I,ve got the eureka midori 3 backpacking tent. I,ve been thru a bunch stormy weather in that tent. I treated it when I got it and its been good to go. It packs up small to fit on the bike and is big enough for staying in and not feeling cramped. I second what Qdog002 said above on size.

REI Half Dome Plus 2. Keep in mind that if you get a backpacking tent, get bigger than you think you need. If just for you, get a two man. If you and the wife, get a three man. It's not like you have to carry it on your back.

But carry on with your tent thread....
Haha that's great! Reminds me of when I ask my Army and Marine Corps vet buddies if they want to go backpacking: "You want to do WHAT?! Are you f...in NUTS?!?!"
I travel alone, had a Eureka 2 man for yrs which was ok size wise but a couple yrs back I picked up this Marmot 3 person tent. It has 2 vestibules which are super handy. Very happy with it.
Here you go, if you are a hard core biker this is all you need along with a $10 tarp from Harbor Freight should it rain, just roll yourself up in the tarp like a burrito and put your head in a tent.
Joking aside, all the above recommendations are good. Always get a size larger than the number of people so you have room for any gear you need while in the tent and it is off your bike.
