when you make an emotional rant, lacking any facts, please return later for an adult discussion.
At work we measure the resistance between cells for lead acid batteries. This avoids a destructive load test. Some will do a load test because it is cheaper than monitoring batteries.
Unfortunately we do not have this option with our batteries.
Again I avoid a destructive test, and would rather trouble shoot. But some people avoid trouble shooting, and do the load test.
A shop may not want to take time, or be able to trouble shoot

. We get 20 years out of our batteries. Most are resistance checked, it is more expensive due to frequency than load testing.
I talked to the guy in charge of it, as I said if a battery is getting weak, and you load test it, you will may not get any more life.
One part of the company load tests every 5 years, cheaper due to frequency of resistance test.
Back to IEEE they have a formula for over 77f the battery is degraded. This upset some.
Some people here load test because it is all they know how to do.
if you read the article it does want you to limit testing, because it is destructive. They have just come up with a compromise for reliability vs shortening life.
