Learned a lesson the hard way. After disassembling as necessary and removing the rear tire, I discovered the loss of air was due to a loose valve stem. A little time spent with a closer inspection before taking the wheel off would have saved a lot of time and effort. Tightened valve stem, pumped up tire, no bubbles. Will let it sit overnight to recheck.
I did discover that the inner rear brake pad was getting thin, outer one is twice as thick. I would have discovered that during winter inspection and service but I might as well replace them as long as I have it apart.
Hopefully brake shoes are readily available so I can get it back together to catch the last off the riding season here.
