Default Good image or scumbag

Just thought I would throw this out there, about the Image of harleys and riders, we need to portray the other side of harley riders also, we are not all excons and scumbags. Alot of us are Doctors and Lawyers and businessmen. Yes ,we like to dress up like bad boys with straight pipes and tear around town and go to the rallys . I just wanted to say that we need to remember we are ambassadors for harley and lets try to be a little more professional to the general public and other riders no matter if it is a rice grinder, I always wave to other riders no matter what they ride, I too rode others in my youth not all can sell the family farm to afford a harley or be in debt up to their eyeballs. Be the ambassador harley wants you to be. just a thought..

I don't think it's a matter of what you have done, or what school you have been to, or how you look, frankly, I could care less. I think it's a matter of how you conduct yourself. Some of us have long hair and pony tails...a fair amount of ink, and might need a bath; maybe we don't look like the best, but these same people will get up in the middle of the night and come get me without a moments hesitation, while some will not.

I don't care what you look like, nor do I care what you have done. I care about what you are today, and whether or not I can count on you, in the same manner that you can count on me. At the same time, I wonder if you will respect me, in the same manner that I respect you, without being judged for what I may or may not look like.

That is the image of a biker.

Mac

Some of my best friends are excons and scumbags. Some of the biggest a--holes I know are doctors and lawyers. If Harley wants an ambassador, they can afford to pay one. If you're worried about your image, then buy a Honda. Afterall, you meet the nicest people on a Honda, right?

Hammertime - I have a business arrangement with Harley - When I choose to buy their stuff they owe me quality and service - I have a GE refrigerator - Do I have to make sure that I only have fresh food in there so I am a good GE ambassador - I am with Jamie and Mac on this one dude - Judge me on how I act and on what I do and I will do the same - If Harley wants me to be an ambassador I will start the day they sign my first paycheck

Hammer,
I will tell you that I have met so many ******** on Harleys. In fact besides my brother and I most people we ride with have metrics and they are far cooler than some of those I know with Harleys. It is all about the ride and the enjoyment the bikes give us. My wife rides a Honda shadow that is mechanically far superior to my deluxe and when I ride it I encounter alot of jerk offs on Harleys that act a fool when they see I am on a honda, yet not knowing I have a Deluxe that puts their piece of garbage old rusty Harley to shame. Just because one rides a Harley only means they can afford one, it doesn't mean they are a true motorcycle enthusiast. I chose Harley because it is what I like, they rumble of the exhaust, the clunking of the transmission, etc... But foremost I am still an individual with my own identity.

I didnt buy my ride to be an ambassador of anything. I also am not a doctor or lawyer who puts on a costume and pretend to be a "badboy". I am the same guy at work that I am on my bike and dont care to portray an image that anyone thinks a biker should have. Save it for halloween.

I could care less what Harley wants. I already gave them what they wanted from me, my money. I owe them nothing else. When I'm in public, regardless of how I'm dressed or the current state of my personal hygiene, I try to be polite and courteous to everyone. It doesn't matter whether I'm on my bike or in my truck, I'm the ambassador for myself and my family. That's all that counts in my book.

Amen to what Mac and the others have said. A scooter is a scooter is a scooter...just that. How I support my family, where I worship, what I ride, How I dress or how I look has absolutley nothing to do with what kind of person I am. Get to know me before you judge me. As far as us representing Harley well.....do we get a discount for being good? By the way that last part was definitely a joke. Ain't found a discount of any real significance from Harley for anything !

I don't have an image. I ride my bike because it is a way of life for me. I have Harley Art and collectables because I like them. I dress how I want, be it leathers or my cowboy hat. I try to obey the laws of the land, and of common decency, but I am not an ambassador for anyone but myself.

I wave at all bikes, I stop to help any biker that is trouble, and if you are in my area and call me with a problem, I will bust my hump to help you out no matter what you ride, what color you are, or how you look. If you screw with me I will get even.

As far as I'm concerned, I have paid my dues, and the world can take me or leave me, your choice.

Regards,

Bill
