Default EagleRider Rental

I’ll post an update in a couple of weeks as to how this ends. We reserved 4 bikes a couple of months ago to pick up next week. A Road Glide, Street Glide and 2 Heritage Softails. Received a call today that they only have 1 Heritage, but can upgrade that rider to something different.
Problem is the rider is a little height challenged and not experienced on a Touring bike. His experience has always been on a Sportster or Fat Boy. They offered him a Yamaha MT07 which is only 407lbs, but has a 31.6” seat height. Not sure that will work either.

My question is for those that have used EagleRider what has your experience been? Any insight would be appreciated!

My only experience was in May 2018 when I had a paid and confirmed reservation for a 2017 Road Glide Special through the Rogers, Arkansas EagleRider for 5 days. The day before I was to leave to drive to Arkansas to pick up the bike and start my long awaited vacation to ride the Ozarks, they called and told me they didn’t have any bikes and they wouldn’t get any until the following week. Needless to say, I didn’t ride the Ozarks that year.

That is horrible customer service.

My experience, there are two types of eagle rider stores, corporate owned and franchise owned, I think kind of like uhaul locations. I always try to rent from a Corporate owned location because there's a better chance of availability. That, and the deposit required is different for the franchise stores, if I remember correctly. I didn't have to put a $5k deposit if I got the insurance at the Corporate store. I didn't have that option from the franchise store and would have to put $5k down, even if I got the insurance. It's refundable, but I didn't want the hassle of dealing with someone holding my money if they thought I returned a bike with some perceived damage that I didn't do. You can also pay extra to guarantee the bike will be available, which I've never done at a corporate store.

I rented a Heritage Softail for a day from them in Maui, 2019. Everything was OK, but when I moved the bike I noticed the front brakes were grinding. Guy tells me it is his only Heritage, that or an Ultra. Well I didn't want an Ultra for Maui, so we take the Heritage, after all not my bike. 24 hours of twisty island roads including a run up the volcano. Went from grinding to me thinking a rotor was just going to snap, awful noises. I tried to limit myself to rear brake because the sound was that bad, but when I needed fronts, I used them.

I bring the bike back the next day and tell the guy my experience. He kind of shrugs, I am sure that bike went back out again without getting new pads installed. I would call it an odd experience.

I've used them 5 times--my first 3 rentals went smooth, absolutely no issues--2 times in Florida, 2 time in AZ and the last time in NV [ Las Vegas]
I paid the extra to reserve the exact bike I asked for--when I arrived [ mid March] they told me that most of the bikes were on a truck stuck in Oklahoma from a snowstorm, they had shipped them to Daytona for bikeweek,
They upgraded me to an Ultra Limited at no extra charge , but we had packed our Harley Travel bags that attach to the luggage rack on the back of a Street Glide. It all worked out in the end , I wouldn't call it a bad experience- just letting you know even when you paid the extra it doesn't always work out.

My SIL did pretty much the same thing --Heritage rental, same roads and rides you described -- he rented for 2 days while my daughter was at a seminar in Maui--the second day he took her for a ride and she said take me back these roads are too scary

That's been my experience with almost any rental vehicle company. None are good, but some stand out in their badness more than others.
