Default clutch lever pin, emergency repair fix

Hey, maybe this will help someone in a bind someday. I just went out for a ride, was heading to my brothers. As I was entering the exit ramp from the highway I went for third gear. Ahhhh, frikn clutch lever goes limp like a broken cable. But something told me it was the pin had fell out of the lever, the one that holds the cable tight. Not sure how but that was the case. Maybe I should have kept going but I decided to stop right away hoping I would find it. No such luck but I did find 60 cents, a 10mm socket, a broken spark plug and a 16P nail. A few other things too but what I was mainly picking up was anything I might use for a temporary fix. Be a wise biker, especially riding an old shovel, I have plenty of tools with me. I decided to bend the 16P nail in half leaving enough gap for the clutch cable to slide through. Slid it in place and gave it a test pull of the lever. Felt Ok so I took some electrical tape and wrapped around the lever so the nail would fall out too. Next I had to give the clutch cable a little adjustment and I was back on the road. I was only about 5 miles from home so I headed back. I did have to stop a couple time for traffic lights and just to be safe I shifted into neutral. Although the lever felt Ok I could just imagine it letting go sending me rocketing in traffic or what ever else might be in front of me.

That was very resourceful. There are a lot of nails laying around when you start looking.
