Default floorboard pad change question

It seems easy, but before I attempted, I wanted to make sure it is correct.

I want to change the rubber padding on the floorboards to the chrome ones and it seems as though the rubber pads need to be cut out and the chrome ones bolted in.

I flipped up the board and felt around and felt no bolts and it seems like the pad just pops through the board. Am i right?

I believe the replacement chrome pads are around 100 bucks and was curious as to how easy this job is for a relatively poor wrencher.

Floorboard pads just pop out. Just get you a pair of needle nose pliers and you're good to go. No cutting is necessary. Don't need to be a wrench to pull it off. Fairly straight forward and simple.

thanks TX! I am assuming the chrome ones line up, and bolt in.

I appreciate the confirmation that I can pull it off.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing? When I replaced my 'stock' rubber floorboard pads, I put on the chrome/rubber ones from the HD Skull theme. These did not bolt in as you mention above. They had the same rubber 'boots' toward the bottom that I simply squeezed (using the needle nose pliers) through the holes in the floorboard plate. If they 'bolt in', then you are not going to have that 'give' which is necessary for vibration reduction, etc. At least that's how mine worked and how I installed them. Either way, it's no big deal. You can pull it off easily.

i bought the nostalgia inserts. they install the same way the stock ones do. lube the rubber inserts with silicone or WD-40 and use needle nose to pull thru the mounting holes.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think all of the replacements floorboard pads have rubber "nipples" (for lack of a better word) that you pull through the holes...hence the need for a pair of needle-nosed pliers. But be careful when you're pulling them through...cuz they can and do tear (don't ask me how I know), and then it's a real b!tch trying to get them through the holes if that rubber tip tears off. I think the instructions also say to coat the rubber nipples/tips with dish soap to help get them through the holes. Hope this helps.

NO tools required. I didn't even need soap or WD-40.

I am trying to get the "nipples" OUT, not in!

Anyway, I know what to do now and appreciate the help as the service manual had nothing on it. I was gonna slice the nipples off. (ouch, that sounded sadistic)

Don't slice them off , you will never get the old one out if you do
