Checked the price and it was lower then I thought they would sell it for....
The funny thing was is that I wasn't looking at it thinking "What did I do!" (Hubby was very glad for that )....the best deal did turn out to be the trade-in (at least with this dealer).
Maybe later I'll get a second bike...couldn't afford them both right now....
I traded my 07 FXDSE in on my 08 SG before Thanksgiving. I went back to the dealership to pick up some Christmas gifts and they had it on the floor for 1K more than what they gave me for it. I figured they would add at least 2K to 3K to the asking price.
I'm curious, how much more were they asking, compared to what they gave you for your trade?
Just about $2000...I would expect that though.
Actually, that ain't much profit.
2 grand is a fair markup.Dealer wouldhave toservice it, check it out real good and prolly give some kinda warranty. The big question is how much they discounted the new bike, factoring in the trade, as opposed to a cash deal.

on a trade in, they can sell your old bike for less than they allowed you and still make good money. They'll trade with you every yr if you want to. In fact, that's why the Moco will come out with a new model, or a change here, anda change there, most yrs. Cause a lot of folks will fall right in line and trade in that1 or 2 yr oldbike.Everybody and their brother has a Harley anymore, so they gotta sell new bikes somehow, and it's working pretty good.
