Default Moco Priorities

Hi,Just been reading about the latest dressed up Softail offering(Cross Bones). So i start thinking why don't Harley sort out some some of themechanical issues on 07 & 08 bikes with the6 speed box.Such as the Primary Compensator(imo a piece of poor cheap designed crap)the rattling 5 gear which inflicts a lot of bikes across the model range,& maybe offer the IDS kit for the Dynas & Softails(instead of just the tourers)to improve the overall feel of the drivetrain.I can only speak for my own bike(07 Dyna)I can live with the noisy 5th gear butthewhen the compensator starts rattling & knocking it starts a vibration whichspoils the enjoment of what is otherwise a great bike.Surely the Moco could sort out these minor mechanical bits & pieces, then bring out new dress ups.
Cheers,Graham.

Make no mistake, the MoCo's first and onlypriority is to increase profit for their shareholders. Any and all actions they take are in support ofthat objective.

How true. While many at MoCo have a passion for motorcycles and riding, there are many more that are pressuring for profits at any and all costs. A good example is the amount of components, accessories, and motorclothes that are produced offshore, instead of being made in the USA. They are also pressured by Wall Street (as ALL companies are) to meet certain objectives, or else the stock suffers.

Personally, I would gladly pay $1,000 more for a bike IF 100% of it was made in the USA by Americans (not illegal immigrants). It's about time someone beat into their thick skulls that warranty work is a severe quality issue that costs the MoCo millions of dollars in proffits and good will toward the consumer.

The bad thing is.. they know we are lemmings, and we will follow that blind lead cow until she leads us off a cliff...[]

yeah, its not an 'evil' thing, it's just a fact of a capitalist economy. Any publicly held company has the same objectives. A private company can make decisions based on any criteria they want (i.e. made in america at any cost), but as soon as you add stockholders in the mix, thats no longer an option. One person above pointed out they would pay more for a 100% made in america bike. I am sure the MoCo's board of directorsexamined that option, and weighed it againstoffshoring parts, and decided that the latter option would lead to more $.

Sad to say Ultra, but your in a minority. We Americans want cheap, cheap, cheap, and won't pay a penny extra for the goods and services we buy. The parking lot at Walmart is always full of us good Americans buying junk from overseas.
