Never riding without a full face!
Didn't appear to do much damage, but then she wasn't much to look at anyway.[8D]
kinda funny that the full faced guys are about 95% 2007 members! Im wondering if you guys are the fellers ridein arround wearing a full faced helmet and shorts and tennis shoes??
Have any of you preachers ever thought about it might be WHERE you ride that dictates the helmet you wear? Like maybe a full faced wouldn't be bad if your running 75mph on the interstate thru Chicago or Cleveland or some other big city. But if your cruseing 40 or 50 on the Ultra on backroadsinTennessee maybe a full faced is a bit of overkill! And I like my 1/2 helment when i"m cruseingmy Ultra.
Now I do wear my full face and FULL leathers when I'm ridein the Busa, but I am usually on the EDGE when Im' ridein it, and I don't mean crusein either. So full gear makes alot of sense.
Maybe ayears experience willhelp them see the light and let those that ride decide!

However, I agree with your statement on the where you ride (and when...summer, winter, etc) AND how old you are and whether you've had an accident or not, dictates what type of gear you wear (for most of us). In 1972, I lost an argument with a cager. Flew about 10 feet, landed on my helmet, walked away from it. Winter months I wear my full face. Warmer weather I wear my 3/4 or 1/2 helmet. Freeway, I like to wear my full face, but if I use my windshield, I wear my 3/4 or 1/2. No option in Virginia to not wear a helmet.
My only thing is if you have to wear a helmet, wear something that at least might do something for you...but....to each his own....

Full face helmets are not the safest thing to put on your head. Too many people have a false since of security with them things.

make you snap your neck, so you die anyway and vice versa.
Lot's of "studies" have been out over my lifetime by lots of people who are a lot smarter than meto support their particular argument (for or against).
Wearing a helmet or not, wearing a half helmet or full face helmet or beanie or DOT, SNELL or non-DOT helmet may or may not save your life. There are many, many variables that can be taken into account as to whether they are effective for that crash or not. How you hit, speed, how you land, what you hit, etc are some of the numerous variables that affect whether you die or walk away or are crippled for life.
Over my 38 years of riding a few hundred thousand miles, the best protection is not your gear but to not get into an accident to begin with (duh). Drive defensively, assume no one ever sees you, drive for the conditions and your skill level. However, I am also of the belief that you should be prepared for the worst and dress accordingly for how, when and where you ride.
That's my opinion and everyone is absolutely entitled to their own opinion (I will NEVER actually say someone is wrong in their belief as all it ever does is impose my opinons and beliefs on others and that's wrong unless you are my kid....)....

I truly believe that everyone should practice safe motorcycle riding practices. Also support the idea of cash incentives/discounts for taking motorcycle safety courses.
