Yesterday, As I was riding out of the Valley where my Ranch is,( I have 2 miles of DG or Dirt Road I have to ride just to get to thepaved Highway), Howmany of you who call yourself "BIKER" ever ride on the Dirt? A few weeks ago I was witha Groupof riders, most of who I had ever met before, we where riding to another Hang Out, When the leader of the group, was warning everybody, about the Dangers of a Dirt Parking Lot, OMG. The road out of my Valley goes, up, and down and all around, I have yet to meet anybody who was willing to brave the dirt road back to my place, Everyday I ride on dirt, If I want to ride, after all the rain here in SoCal, it is more of a Mud Road today. When I'm riding out to the highway, I feel like I am in an old 60's Biker Movie, (You know the ones where everybody is on some dirt road out in the middle of Nowhere) Ya, that's where I live.
I dont have near as far to go on dirt as you but just under a mile. Yep everyday ridiing starts on dirt. Monsoon season here sometimes stops me when the top 3 inches are like pudding and dry underneath but not often. I dont hesitate to ride on dirt, although newly DG'd roads and parking lots are always fun if you know what i mean.....
Ya, the last two miles to the cabin is dirt. I just grip the bars really loose, skunch back on the seat a little more and take it slow on the curves. The Ultra does NOT forgive like the old Yama Enduro!
The last 200 yards has some rounded, glaciated 3" rocks... there's some pucker factor ridin on those![]
don't mind dirt but don't like gravel
started riding in the dirt and raced mx till I was 55 so dirt is no
real problem..
nice area you live in.. any resturants in that area that are still open
we go thru there quit often usually stop at the casino any place better??????
No issues taking any of my bikes in the dirt. Have gone down many jeep , atv and dirtbike trails to camp and/or party on my old sporty and the FXR that replaced it, as well as my current FLHT. The FLHT is a pig offroad and is not anywhere as well behaved in slippery trails as the Sporty and the FXR were.
Grew up on dirtbikes and I'm on my 5th jeep, so going offroad is a common thing for me. The Sporty and the FXR were not ridden like any of my XR's off road, but they definitly went down a lot of trails. The FLHT does not have the ground clearnace and is damn wide, so when I do go on a trail it is a two track jeep trail to get to a river.
Dirt and gravel is a place to spin your tires and wiggle your assend
Sounds like those ladies need to learn to ride ...
