Default " Stage 1 " WORTH IT ?

I tried doing a search on this subject, however I was not too successful. A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Fat Bob which should be in, in approximately 3 weeks or so, and my salesperson suggested that perhaps I might be interested in the Stage 1 as an upgrade. My question is this, is it worth the extra $$$, or is it just there job to try and sell you whatever they can to boost their profit margin? Does it really increase performance ? Also how much noisier is it with this install ?

Any insight would greatly be appreciated. Thx !

Worth it? Yes it was to me as performance is noticeably improved. The noise level will be higher. Listen to bikes with different pipes before you take the plunge.

The Stage I kit will give you noticable performance increase. It's a simple enough installation that you can do it yourself with a few basic tools in the dealer parking lot and then wheel it into their shop for the mapping. You might want to consider a set of SE pipes to go with it.

Doing it yourself is a load of fun. Did mine one piece at a time. You will feel the difference. I suggest breaking in the bike before doing any mods.

Absolutely. Part of the emission controls are accomplished by strangling the motor using lean fuel mixture and retarded timing. Stage one retunes the bike the way it's supposed to be. They're no longer emission legal though and congress toyed with the idea of making it illegal. I go to an independant shop that charges half the price of the dealership.
