I need some help from any painters out there. I'm having flames painted over my stock Cobalt Blue 06' Street Glide. I need a color that will go well with the stock color. My painter sent me pics of the side cover from my bike. Its not cleared yet...just wet and not pin striped. The thing is...the Cobalt Blue looks purple in low sunlight conditions and looksbluein directsunlight. I haven't seen the side cover in person yet. What he's telling me is the pics look better than in person. Because of the lighting. He thinks the contrast between the purple in the Cobalt and his silver/blue flame is just not to his liking. I kind of like the pics, but like he said...its a pic. He's going to shot the other side cover in a traditional flame color (white, yellow, orange) to show me how it would look on Cobalt blue. Any thoughts on paint colors would be very helpful. There's a lot of surface area on a bagger. I have to be picky about the color. Once it's done and paid for I'm stuck with it. I don't want to make a mistake.
My paint (PPG#?) shifts from blue to green depending on what side of the bike you're looking from - great effect. My painter strongly recommended the green flames versus traditional yellow/red on this background color. Real happy with results but everyone's taste is different.
Been thinking about the same thing on my cobalt blue scooter. If I wind up pulling the trigger on the deal, the flames are going to be black (with metal flake)
