I am going to make a run from Florida to South Jersey, I have no time constraints and the only definite stop will be Deals Gap. \\; Anyone care to suggest routes and stops? \\;
Which part of New Jersey. \\; I just rode through Philly and western NJ (Camden, Cherry Hill, etc.) and hit some for the south. \\; LOTS of traffic, but a fun ride. \\; If you're doing Deals Gap and head through Maggie Valley then definitly do the Wheels Through Time Musueum. http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com.
Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive. Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive.
There's tons more links on both. \\; Just Google them.
And if you do Maggie Valley and Wheels through Time Museum as suggested by doc_cj, you can pick up the BRP on top of the hill right above Maggie Valley.
When you come off the BRP, shoot east through VA. \\; Somehow get to Rt 17/Rt 218 which wil merge you with 301, over the Dahlgreen bridge. \\; Take 301 (or head to the shore roads) up through Delaware, instead of through 95 and DC/Baltimore.
Just returned from thr Deals Gap area. We rode 129 from Florida all the north to Robbinsville. Nice chill ride. Some awesome roads north of Athens. We took two days going up, one coming home, just north of Tampa. Have Fun!
When you're on the BRP, take a side trip up Grandfather Mountain. \\; They will warn you at the entrance that the road has some very tight hairpin turns and should only be attempted by experienced riders, and they ain't kidding!, but it's worth the effort. \\;
+1 on Maggie valley and Wheels Through Time. If you haven't been it's a must see. We just got back this week and it is fantastic. The museum will be closing in August to get ready for the move to Arizona. You can't go wrong with 129 through Georgia, it's a great road as mentioned.
