Different strokes, but I make clear to people, if you want to leave me a message, it better be voicemail, I'm not dickin around with text messages...the only person I accept that stuff from is my grandson and he's 10, and I expect him to act like a kid...
I used it all the time (34). \\; It's a quick and easy way to get messages off to friends/family without spending a whole heap of time on the phone with them. \\; I happen to use it mostly to chat with my wife during the day. \\; She's usually at client sites, and I'm typically on the phone with my clients, so it's a quick and easy way to let her know about something, or just give a quick hey to her, and she can check it at her leisure. \\; Checking text messages is \\;definately faster than dialing in to check voicemail! \\; \\; One of my wife's friends is 37, and she will rarely talk on the phone, but if you send her a txt message she'll respond almost immediately! \\;
I never use it and it pisses me off when someone sends me a text, every one of those frickin things costs me like 15 cents. If someone texts me I don't even bother to call them back for atleast two weeks. People have stopped texting me except if they want to get me a little irritated. I see people texting in their cars, in meetings, everywhere. It's just as rude even though you are not talking on the phone, you still aren't paying attention to what you should be doing. \\;
I text a lot because when I am at work I don't always want the other people I work with hearing my conversations. Also, most of my friends are cops and some work in hospitals and it isn't always ok for me to call them. So, I text them and they call when they get a chance. It is also nice to use so that I don't have to actually speak to my mother-in-law[:'(] \\;(She is one of those people that you can never get off the phone)
im 17 and i guess im of the "texting generation" i use it all the time. 95% of my phones use come from texting. i can talk to multiple people at once and still be doing whatever im doing. its alot easier than calling someone in my opinion and its really not that hard to learn (but i guess some people have no need for it or just plain dont want to learn) but the people who get irritated over it, unless it charges you, i mean... its just a text message \\;
Some kids can text without even looking at their phone
I'm not a big fan, but it has its place. If you need to send the same message to multiple recipients and email isn't an option, it's great. It's also useful for those times when you need to get a message across but it is not appropriate to speak on the phone.
I wish the idiots who carry on loud cell phone conversations in a crowded doctor's office would learn to text (or at least have the courtesy to step out into the hall)![sm=devilgrin.gif]
I guess I'm just old. I'm 42 and have no need for it.
I'm older than you darlin. \\;\\\\\\; I think it's just a matter of preference.
 \\;
I win, older still.... I text all the time. There are plenty of times and situations that I can't be talking but can type out a quick message, like on a conference call, in a group, or a boring office meeting

My mama use to say "stupid is as stupid does". \\; I am 63 and have used text messaging at work to over 400 cell phones at one time. \\; On a personal note, if you really don't want to talk, just send a text message. \\; It is cheaper and I'm a tightwad using a prepaid cell phone. \\; But - no texting while driving a car and especially riding a motorcycle.
