I have a \\;2002 \\;electraglide classic with fuel injection- ever since having the cam tensioners replaced by the dealership in Reno while on a trip I immediately started having a problem with the bike backfiring on deceleration and it occasionally pops through the air throttle body. \\; This never happened before having the cam tensioners replaced. \\; The local harley dealer \\;is having a problem coming up with \\;the cause. \\; They've replaced the pipes, tested for exhaust leaks, checked electrical components, done a valve leak down test and a fuel pressure test as well as all the computer diagnostic analysis. \\; With all coming up having no problems. \\; Dealership has done all they can do without starting to replace costly parts without a direction as to whats causing the problem....any ideas??
Need a few more symptoms. If the shop in Reno put it back together wrong ( and I don't see how they would) so as to effect the valve to piston timimg ,there should be other problems. Is it running O K under a load? Does it surg at constsnt speed? Do you have any type of tunning device on the bike? Your dealer seems to have eliminated the mechanical possibilities so that leaves fuel &\\; ignition. Have you had this trouble on different tanks of gas? Have you checked the injector clips/wires for the common problem of being streched to tight and cause intermitant firing? Try the "poke" test with a wood dowel at the injector connection. \\; Advise?
Do intake manifold leak test. Replace exhaust gaskets again (did they take the exhaust off &\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; re-use the gaskets?)Then timing. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; \\;\\\\\ \;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; They could have one of the cams off by just a very small increment or maybe didn't follow the SM correctly on re-installation. If the guy didn't rotate the engine and align the camshaft timing marks correctly before re-assembly that could be the issue. Any time you mess with anything related to the cams you should do this whether specified by the SM or not just to be sure. Not hard to check this alignment.

Agree ... It's timing. \\; Guarantee it. \\; Take it back and have them fix it, or shoot their azzes. \\; They need kill'n. [:@]
