 \\;I keep reading where people refer to a "Soft Market" or a Bad market.
It must be regional cause in the south, \\;bikes are selling like nobody's business.
Sales at \\;dealerships are way above last years or several years, due to gas prices I \\;guess.
Very few 08s in showroom.
 \\;I even heard a dealer in Texas trying to buy new bikes from other dealerships cause they didn't have enough to finish the month of June.
Used Harley's are bringing top dollar too, if you can find one.
 \\;
 \\; \\;
i agree. i have been in the market since my crash in april and in tn used harleys are selling at a premium. may just be that it is riding time of year.
Bike sales are very strong here in Kentucky. I have 2 local guys \\;that in the last month that just bought brand new bikes and that is just the guys I ride with. All the dealers are having record sales,The bike market is Strong here.

I suggest you look up here in NY/NJ for a used HD then. \\; Sure, some folks are asking top dollar, but those bikes are sitting for weeks or months. \\; Then you start to see the asking price drop.
I deal mainly locally at a dealer named Moroney's HD in Newburgh NY.I also thought the economy had the dealers on the ropes,but the gas prices seem to have caused a buying spree for motorcycles.They had a few on the floor,but the showroom is packed with SOLD stickers on bikes.
The bottom line is that the corporation looks at national and worldwide sales as a whole, even though the sales \\;might vary from region to region within a specific country.
 \\;
During the 1st quarter of 2008 sales of new bikes in the United States dropped by 12.8% from the same period last year. \\;
 \\;
But a bright spot is that overseas sale for the 1st quarter of this year have increase quite a bit over the same period last year.
 \\;
Canadian sales are up 31.1%, sales in Europe are up 7.8%, Asian sales increased 19.5%, and sales in Latin America increased a whopping 53.3%.
 \\;
Most stock holders (including myself) are looking forward to the 2nd quarter financial reports, which are scheduled to be released on the 17th of this month.
 \\;
People are still buying bikes, but there has been a shift from new bikes to used bikes. \\; New dealer sales were poor in the first quarter, but the CEO mentioned used bike sales were a all time record. I would expect this to continue, weak new sales, good used sales. People are really haveing a hard time justifing paying $1000s more for a new bike when they can buy a garage queen with low miles and upgrades. There are still plenty of used bikes out there to feed the demand.
If HD does bump up 09MSRPs 3-4% look for the used market to get even stronger.
