I went to the MB rally this year and had a great time, however I was not aware the town was so anti bike rally. My thought is if they don't want it fine , I will not spend a dime of my money or any of my vacation time there.
I'm going and checking it out. As long as the bars and restaurants are open, should still be a good time. However, I do wonder if the local MB law enforcement are going to maintain the same posture they've employed for previous MBBW's or if they'll try something different. Anyone know?
OK ,I live here ,(Murrells Inlet ) 11miles south of M B proper It is only the city of MB will not be having Bike week everything else in the county is a GO which means there will be no venders in MB maybe ? but everthing else is ok Hey we dont want to loose your $$$ it keeps my tax down The Local bike groups here are fighting it Plus the merchants & MB Harley but you see most of all the rally is not in MB proper so just try to Boycot MB stay in hotels just out side of MB .
I think its just a bunch of old locals playing games . It happens from time to time here Its almost like saying Xmas is going to be canceled this year ! Like it will Never happen.
I was there this year and had a great time. Without the venders it may be down in 09. If a town nearby was smart they would capitalize on that by asking us to come there instead. We spend alot of money in MB. Someone must want it if MB doesn't.
If I remember right, the company, Burroughs and Chapin own Broadway at the beach where some of the vendors were. Since they also own a great chunk of MB real estate, I feel sure if they want vendor permits they will probably get them. As others have said, MB is the only municipality wanting to kick us out, not Horry County. Hell, I can bypass MB and stay outside. And how can they keep us from going down there if we care to ride our bikes. My thought is that if you want to clean it up and mostly it's the second rally that causes the trouble, then police the hell out of it. You break the law, off to jail for the weekend. Pretty soon it will quieten down.
