I have a problem at idle when the bike has been just started, with my '07 FXDC.
The engine seems to take some time to start (usually it started at the second or even first full rev) say 6-8 revs, and then, unless I give some throttle, the engine simply starts to turn slower and slower and shuts down.
I have a fuel injected '07 engine.
+1 on battery and terminals. Battery? Battery cables? Loose? Dirty? Problems usually electrical. Have you changed anything? Done any work or had work done? My question begins with when did it start, what were you doing before and after, and if you changed things why and how. When? Really not enough information for me to want to take a shot in the dark on your problem with the bike. Others on here may have better idea.
How many miles on your bike. Mine(07 FXST) doesn't always start as quickly as it did when new but I got about 16000 miles, was thinking about changing my plugs.
The fact that it will start with giving it some throttle , to me, means the iac home position is not being set. Time to see dealer to comfirm this and replace the part.

Good answer. My SERT has made me lazy. I scan the bike and compare values to what I have stored and go from there .

The bike has about 3000 km on it (roughly 1800 miles). It was fine 'till I parked it here after a 100 miles trip. It's parked on an upward slope.
Verified battery cables, spark plugs, spark plug cables (both ends), all looks fine.
The engine starts, but it takes some time to start, then it revs down, becomes irregular and dies. Second time, and a little throttle, it stays on, with some irregularity...
Could it be some problem with the pressure release valve which lets some pressure blow until it sets properly after some revs?
Think I'll see the dealer on 25th, when I go back to Milano for work and the dealership opens again.
Thanks everybody.
