I believe, but just my .02, that once a group of whatevers start to deal in criminal activity, the people involved need to be arrested and that group be dissolved. Don't give me this constitional BS that I hear every single day with rights and all that, because I'm tired of seeing and hearing people misinterpret consitutional law.
If you or your group is affiliated with criminal activity, and you get caught, I'm sorry, but you should cease to exist. Once we allow M/C's or whatever group to continue with slaps on the wrist, all it does is make it worse for law-abiding citizens, whether it comes to safety, taxes, and overall social well-being.
The problem with this country lately has been that too many smarta$$' who misinterpret laws in order to benefit their agendas.
So, if 2 or 3 members of your local HOG chapter (of which are roughly 10 or 12 active members) get arrested for stealing a bike then your HOG chapter should cease to exist? By your own statement then, ALL HOG chapters should cease to exist...
No, in this country you are NOT quilty by association. At least not yet...
Four ATF agents infiltrated the gang and were accepted as full members, a difficult process that requires winning the trust of the gang's top leaders over a period of months
This is such a joke, Cavazos is too busy being a movie star and should have never let this happen. The man is all show and has totally went hollywood. Filling rags with gang members is a sure way to get the ATF's interests up.
The thing about them recruiting local bangers is that the cops and the general population don't know the difference. All they see is some dude ridin a scoot with such and such MC rags on his back. Then they see some other dudes hangin at a bar with the same rags and they are all in a "motorcycle gang". What kills me is that if you and some of your friends (or bros if that's what you want to call them to make yourself feel like a real biker) are out on a Sunday afternoon ride in the country, everyone who sees you out there thinks your a "motorcycle gang". So all in all it's just the publics vision of anyone or group on a bike that the cops have made up over time to keep the Beaver Cleavers of the world on their side. No I'm not a member of an MC, but I have friends that are and I feel 100 times safer when I'm around them then I do when I'm at some bike night somewhere.
Really? It's the cops fault the publics perception of MC's is what it is??? So you are saying that the MC's themselves have not fostered their own image with their 5 on 1 beatings of any one who purposely or inadvertentally insults them? With their get out of the way we're coming through attitudes? The MC's have worked hard for decades to get the image they have, and blaming it on the cops is ludicrous.
On the Canadian news (CFCF news) last night: they said 4 agents were patched and infiltrated the club. They would also go to parties with female agents posing as thier girlfriends. They said the feds also traced phonecalls saying the club was trying to make inroads into Canada.
I personally can't condone LEO's breaking the law to operate, but it happens everyday.
The govt infringes on basic rights guaranteed by the constitution and the laws of this nation to justify their existance.
It is wrong, but it is real life.
The end justifies the means in their eyes.
But in doing so they lower their standing in the public eyes.
The average citizen may never question how a LEO operated until they cross paths with one.
EVERY LEO will lie and fabricate facts to make their case.
They will protect "their own", a perfect example of gang mentality.
Now, let me get this right. From what I've read in this thread...all cops are criminals, but only a small percentage of Mongols are. Do I have that right? Whew! I guess I have to change the way I've been thinking. Man, I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you guys to set me straight.

Big difference between 2 or 3 HOG members stealing a bike and a group of M/C gang members beating people, murdering, and dealing weapons. BIG difference. And last time I checked, my local HOG chapter doesn't fly colors and pretend we're part of a gang. We just get together once in a while and take a ride.

I guess your "thinking" depends largely upon your experience.
What I see being said here is that there are bad apples in every barrel, and there is no reason to toss the whole barrel for the sake of the few that are bad. Once the rights of the few are violated, it becomes easier for the rights of the many to be violated.
My view, (just mine mind you), is that LEO's are the more powerful and dangerous GANG out there. IF (big IF there) I were ever to consider engaging in what the more powerful GANG considers criminal activity, the LAST THING I'd ever do is ride around with a 3 piece patch on my back that would get me undo attention from them. Heck, I'd have a big old sticker on the back of my scoot that read "support your local police" or some such tripe.

You must be talking about LEO's because I've never seen or heard anything like this from MC's around here. Not many convictions of MC members compared to all the LEO noise and bad press.
We just get together once in a while and take a ride.
