That really sucks, and I feel for you. This, however, reconfirms why I would hesitate to buy used. I know many people have gotten fantastic deals on good quality used bikes. But my luck is such that I'd get one with "underlying problems". (Yeah, I've turned pessimistic in my old age.) In most cases, you just REALLY don't know what problems you are inheriting. I do hope you can solve your problems and you can spend more time riding and less time fixing. Good luck!
+1. I got a used Shovelhead, and it leaks oil!!! I have small oil spots all over my garage. Can you believe it? My 02 was used, and it had discoloration on the exhaust headers. You can't trust no one.
In all seriousness, I've heard more problems with new bikes than most used bikes. There's nothing wrong with used.
I got my 04 Road Glide a year ago my list is some long then your list. It's been in the shop 6 times this year. The dealer never fix everything that is wrong with bike.
I'm have voltage regulator and stator replaced this time and it's still in the shop after 4 weeks. it's broken three sets pipes, needed motor mount, cables have broken, heated gripe what bad after two weeks of useing them, gear shift broken in trans, needs lifters, gas just stop pumping every now and then. This is part of buying a use bike. Get a new bike the next time and have the fix every thing that brake you will never get to ride your bike.
