Just wondering what everyone else is paying for oil and filters. Seems like the dealer here is pretty high, he knows it and makes no bones about it. Matter of fact, they seem pretty arrogant about it.
chrome filters are 16.79
hd syn3 oil is 11.40 qt
Damn! I thought I was getting robbed... chrome filter for mine runs $9 something plus tax and I buy the Mobil 1 from Wal-Mart (about $25 for 5 quarts). It does seem like everytime I buy a filter, the price goes up at least $.50 or so!?!?!?
Oil filter at dealer (black) - $9.82 tax and all.
Oil, this time I had to go with the cheapo stuff from wally world, the 20w-50 Tech(?) @ about $2/qt I think it is, and the Tech 85w-140 at same price. (can't remember for sure the prices of the oil since I had both in decent quantities for the truck saved in the shed for a while).
Seems to be working just fine since I did the 1000 mile service a few days ago and I've put about 50 miles since then on the bike. I'd *prefer* Amsoil, but just couldn't afford it this month.
I just bought a filter yesterday and it was just over $14 with tax. I buy Mobil 1 V-twin 20-50 motorcycle oil at walmart for just under $9/qt...Same oil is just over $9 at Autozone.

Buying chrome filters is akin to throwing 2-3 bucks in the trash, IMO. Nothing but black ones for me from a discount dealer at around 7 bucks each the last time I ordered a dozen.
Oil? I ran HD dino at $1.99 a quart from a local dealer for years. The last time I bought some, it had gone up to $6.50. I said no more. I bought my last dino motorcycle oil at Autozone. It was Valvoine 20w-50 for 4 bucks a quart.
All of the above is for my Twin Cam. In my Ironhead, I use a $1.99 filter and 2 buck a quart Pennzoil 20w-50.
For the Twin Cam, Fram PH6022, PH6065A-Chrome, these filters fit and can be found at Walmart or other places for about half the price. I understand the following filters also cross. I know they don't say HD on them, so they may not be for everyone here, but listed for those that might need to save a few $$$$.
