I've run internal throttles since they were factory equipment. Wouldn't have it any other way. I prefer the HD original as it uses a solid wire, but the original parts are hard to find and expensive. Repop parts are iffy quality. I've got 2 internal throttles right now. One is a Streamline and it is expensive, but top quality. Forget who made the other, but it's a good one, too. You're only running the "pull" cable, so don't damage it when installing.
As far as electrical wires, I move everything off the bars. Now if I could figure out a way to "mind meld" with the brakes, I could chunk the master cylinder, too.

Have any pointers? We just ran the wires in my new bars yesterday. I have had a Streamline internal throttle for a while and thinking it might be time to do all that work as well. No clue what to purchase for a throttle cable or anything.

Only requirements for the throttle cable are the correct fitting on the carb/throttle body end, and the correct length. I bought an extra length and used a tubing cutter to cut the outer sleeve to size at the carb/throttle body end. The inner cable gets cut at the handlebar end. I soldered the strands before cutting the inner to length. You can use the factory pull cable if it's long enough. I had to buy a new one 'cause I made a set of stainless drag bars and mounted 'em on 8 inch risers.
I just installed a streamline and had a few problems with it, but don't get me wrong it works great after I got past a few issues. The wede shoe on it would'nt tighten up enough in the bars so I had to drill out the hole on the main body where the bolt goes through, but I drilled too far and drilled out the shoulder that the bolt head rests on inside. I had too turn down a washer to fit inside then put JB weld on the back side of the washer too keep it in place. Then found out that I needed two left hand grips cause the original throttle sleeve was to big and just spun without grabing the body of the throttle. Once I got all that fugered out it works like a champ, real smooth and quick. Also I got a barnet universale iinternal throttle cable.
Hope you don't run into the **** I did, good luck.

Nice write-up. Got photos? I'm really interested in doing this on my WG. I have Wild-1 507 Drags with internal wiring. I wonder if there's room inside for the throttle cable too.
