I enjoyed the posts to this thread, but there is alot of truth to this stuff. A month ago in trempealeau, wi., you say, tremplo, a turkey flew up from a field and struck a rider and killed the driver and critically injured the passenger. Neither were wearing helmets. I not a fan of helmets or seat belts, but the proof is in the pudding. Didn't personally know the people but reminds us all that shxx happens when you least expect it.
Had some strong winds here last week, one day it was blowing about 30mph with gusts to 50mph.
About half a block from the house this silly little sparrow decides the trees are greener on the other side of the road, when I get to him he is flaping his little wings as hard as he can and making no headway at all, had to duck my head to miss him.
2003, heading for the 100th HD party in Milwaukee, crossing the great Canadian prairies. Spooked a flock of ducks and one flew up under my right bar and smacked into my chest. Man, that hurt and almost flipped me off the back of the bike, but I just wobbled and managed to pull to the side of the road. My son was behind me and he said all he saw was the duck disappear in front of me, then a huge cloud of feathers swirling behind me. Scared the crap outa ME, though.
While riding on one of the back roads in Arkansas, I came upon something running down the side of the road. At first thought it was a dog but then noticed the funny legs. I slowed and when I was about 5 feet from it, it took to the air. It crossed my windshield then double backed across it again. I could have grabbed a leg if I wanted to. It was that close to me. I had slowed to about 20 mph by then. It must have been about a 25 lb Turkey.
Scared the guy behind me, he thought it was attacking me the way it swop at me then back again.

I was following a friend one day at 60-65mph when I saw a friggin' pigeon crash into the left side of his helmet. I could see my friend's head tilt to the right. He swerved a little bit but he managed to stay on the bike and kept going. The pigeon literally exploded upon impact. Feathers were flying all over.
This was before the helmet law was changed in PA. Without a lid, I'm pretty sure he would have been knocked out. This s*cker hit him pretty hard.
