Default Spark plugs

OK just to see I changed my plugs yesterday and did the oil change as I do every year, and the plugs are are dark. Now the bike runs fine but just curious as to normal wear should look like from plugs that are used.

I don't know..they look ok to me...kind of hard to tell from the pics though... how often do you change them?? You said "every year" oil change...how many miles is that? I change my plugs every 5k just like the oil.... so about 2x a year.... at 5k they are just beginning to show some coloring....

I change them every year and considering I only have had this bike for just over a year, I put on about 2,500 miles last year. I don't think anything is for cause of concern, but figured I'd ask all the experts here.

I change my plugs every 10k miles per the service manual. My understanding is if you're not running too lean or too rich your plugs should have a light tan color to them. That's what mine look like when I replace them.

A nice medium chocolate brown on the plugs is what I've been told is the proper fuel mixture. Black is too much fuel and white you are running too lean of a mixture.

From what I can tell by the pics, they look ok to me. Maybe a tiny bit rich, but not much beats the crap outta being lean. Install new ones and keep on riding.

My manual calls for changing them at 20k so still have the originals. Don't plan on doing it before. I have pulled them a few times to check them and they've always been blacker than yours. I take it as a good sign that my bike isn't running lean.
