some times tires wear funny and one side will slope differently making cornering one direction different than the other. usually from riding the same road groove all the time, or the speed difference in right and left turns, different rider habits..? Please let us know what it is....if you find anything

New Thought ! Given the age and '89 FLH could a fork brace help?
Just a thought. I am adding one to my '08 to give it a little stiffer turning/handling.

No news yet guys my buddy Dennis was too busy to take a look at it and idk much about the mechanics to really do much. I checked all my fluids, and put my front tire at 38lbs and back at 40lbs and so far she rides a lot smoother. I don't get that scary unbalanced feeling during turns anymore. I rode her pretty hard yesterday after adding air. She's smooth so far but I still plan to have it looked into just in case the low tire pressure is masking some other issue.
Oh I do have a quick Q though, The chrome shields on my exhaust are those purely cosmetic or do they serve a purpose? 1 b/c I thought Chrome retained heat, 2 I like the burn-in look and wanted to know if it's ok to remove them? One of my clamps broke and I have the worst rattle now!!!!!

The heat shields are there to keep the burnt flesh off of your exhaust pipes. They will get hot also. Keeps you from seeing the bluing on the pipe.

I know it will output more heat that the chrome was absorbing but I like the blue look, it looks classic to me. lol. Just asking b/c the heat doesn't really bother me, my dad's 82 FLH doesn't have em & I cruise on that all the time.
Back on topic, my buddy Dennis suspects 2 things....one my swing arm the rubber seals might just be warn from how old the bike is and its giving me a little play in my turns and my rear tire has warn uneven.
Thanks for all the advice and fast responses guys, really appreciate it!!

ride safe guys

I also took my running-board off & then my heat-shield and fixed my rattle!!! so annoying. When they installed my exhaust they added an extra clamp that wasn't attached to anything so it was just spinning around making noise!!! lol. Unfortunately I still have a slight squeak but I'm sure I'll need to check the heat-shields on my other side. Thanks local Harley shop for allowing me to over pay and not get my money's worth as usual which is why they closed down. haha. ANyways thought I'd rant and post thta I fixed my rattle!!!
