I've been thinking about installing some taller apes (or gimps) and doing the necessary cable and brake line changes. Looking at Barnett's site, they have three different finishes for their stainless braided cables. A plain finish stainless, a bright platinum finish and carbon coat. Has anybody seen in person, their "Carbon Coat" braided cables? Looks to be something of a subdued gray finish but it's tough to tell from the site. Seems like it would go nice with my Denim Bob. Not quite as flashy but still a custom look. A nice picture would be awesome! Thanks.
Sorry I can't help with a personal look. I have the SC cables, and they look like the ones in the picture, so if that tells you anything..........................
I think the Carbon cables would look good, nice stainless look, but it wouldn't "pop", stand out at you. My Brother is planning a Bob purchace in '07 and plans to replace the stock PVC. You could wait til then, as he has made mention of the Carbon cables, but if you get them before, post some pics, I'm sure several others would like to see them.
I've got 12" apes on the way.....can't make up my mind either. Definitely going with stainless.
What I'm having trouble with is finding clutch, throttle and brake cables all from the same maker.
The front brake line....I don't know if a 1 piece will make the turns from the lever to the brakes without looking like a big bow tie.
Hope that makes sense.
I may try to build a 3 piece to keep the the cable close to the bike using the 90 degree elbows
I spoke with Barnett yesterday, I'm also installing the carbon clutch and throttle lines from Barnett. They recommended buying a brake line from Spiegler (spieglerusa.com) because they said it matches much better to their product.
Here is a picture of the carbon coat cables they sent me:
