Yall need to quit feeding the cowgurl troll. Patch subject has been well covered by knowledgeable people and the bad ***'s will learn if they aren't careful. Respect goes a long way and it is what it is.
The OP, with only 19 posts and no bike in his sig, may or may not actually ride or may not even be old enough to ride. He posts like a keyboard cowboy not a rider who has actually had interaction with 1% club members. Most of the patch holders are like a rattlesnake.. as long as you keep your distance and don't stick your hand in their space, you'll be fine but .....mess with them, they're going to nail you. and with an attitude like the OP.... well, I'd just make sure I had good medical and life coverage. I fel your gooing to need it. ,I live in an very near a state line with two different dominant clubs in each state. I don't bother either club. They're not interested in me and I'm not interested in their business. Healthier that way.

here lately been couple threads on MC and now this one..
Here in central Ind we don't have (as far as I know) any threats of any kind from serious MC activity. One can and some do wear, patches from different, organizations (Religious, F&AM, Goldwingers, come to mind)and to my knowledge their had never been any issues from that.
Showing respect to any group or lack of respect to them because someone wears a certain piece of clothing is beyond my understanding.
I havent read all the posts but the OP asked a valid question. Personally I think the OPs brother-in-law should wear the patch. This is America, wear what you want. I dont interact with 1% members. I understand the concept of brotherhood and respect inside the 1% clubs but why should others be forced to respect the club or its colors? I never understood the big deal about colors, patches or turf. Behavior of some MCs seems extremely childish in my opinion. Its like a bunch of kids fighting at a playground. There are hundreds of MCs in the United States. The majority of them are decent, some are not. Any club that would give a guy crap over a Christian patch (regardless of the colors) needs to grow up. Just my $0.02.
OK, now that everyone has had some fun, here's a simple solution:
Modify the top and bottom rockers by getting rid of the folded-looking part that contains the stylized crosses. If you want to keep the crosses then place them at the ends of the rockers, but without the folded-looking portion. Sew the rockers onto the vest so they touch the patch, making it appear to be one piece. You won't have a problem from anyone, except maybe a seriously brain-dead prospect. And the club will probably thank you for helping them to weed-out such an idiot!
Now for some edjimication-stuff. A 3-piece patch doesn't always indicate an outlaw club. It may simply indicate a traditional motorcycle club, but doesn't even always indicate that. Plus, the bottom rocker doesn't always have to do with territory; sometimes it's nothing more than part of the club's name.
Crikey, we be havin' fun! Is it raining and snowing everywhere already? Friggin' idjits are out full-force on this forum lately. It's usually late December-early January before the full-moon-loons make their appearance!

You may not know of any threats but there is plenty of activity. You wont see them wearing colors at Wal Mart but I'll guarantee you the they are near.............

You make some good points, but miss the mark for one simple reason. Most think the ruckus over patches is caused by the bad-boy muttersickle clubs. T'ain't so! The ruckus happens when some guys come up with a patch and start a so-called club, then decide to play billy-bad-*** 'cause they think that's what the game is about. Now, Joe Q. Public doesn't know anything except those motorcycle guys with that patch were being mean & stupid. Therefore, all motorcycle guys with patches are mean and stupid. That brings the heat (and that isn't necessarily just cop-heat) down onto everyone wearing a patch, whether they're 1%ers, a Mom & Pop club, a veterans club, a group of Southern Cruisers, a group of American Legion Riders, or the really bad boys of H.O.G.! The only way to at least try to keep a lid on this type crap is for someone to exert some control over the whole club scene. That's it, the sole reason behind the patch/club control thing.
I don't know what part of Indiana you are from. And I am not going to throw names around for obvious reasons. But I know of at least 3 of the big 1% clubs that stake claim to different areas of Indiana. But if you don't cause trouble you won't find trouble. Just my
