Ok, just so you know...WOMEN like to look at guys butts! Nothing looks better on a guy then tight jeans....except maybe tight jeans in CHAPS!
There now that I've said that, chaps are for protection from weather, bugs and the road. I wear them sometimes, most of the people I ride with wear them sometimes and THIS is the FIRST time in all the years I've been around bikers that I've ever heard them called gay!
I can't remember the last time I asked anyone what I should be wearing, I'm all grown up and sometimes still grab 2 different color socks occasionally....sheeeeeeeeeeesh who cares?
I'd rather see someone wearing chaps, then shorts & flip-flops on a bike....how the heck do they SHIFT without breaking their toes???

All the more reason to wear chaps! Plus, it seems it is ok for the women to wear chaps, I mean seriously, most guys see those girls in a thong and chaps, they didn't even notice the chaps, much less call them gay. Plus, like you said, I've been ridin' with all kinds of people over the last thirty five years and this forum is the first place I ever heard anyone say chaps were gay.
