I recently bought a pair of Redline leather Overpants.
They're fully lined, zipper down each leg and velcro at the bottom.

They're very east to get on and off.
The whole term 'assless chaps' pisses me off.
ALL chaps are assless, STFU. /rant

Anyway, been wearing my OVERpants to work for the past week or so.
They're very comfortable and once I'm inside and warmed up I take them off.
I can be pretty discreet and take them off at my desk.
WOW, right this is what I was trying to ask, i care nothing about style, i look good in carharts covering my leathers in the winter What I was trying to ask was why would you wear chaps when leather OVERpants provide more protection. I did get several answers that I agree with and might make me pick up some chaps one day. 1-cost, although you can find anything cheap on ebay. 2- summer riding, when its hot i usually just wear jeans but I can see how just having the legs covered would keep the bugs off and give some protection without roasting the junk, thanks for the replies.

Try telling a cowboy he looks gay in his chaps. they have their use, and are easy on and off. I would ask why do some people wear white tennis shoes instead of boots? Same thing. Wear what you want, the chaps work fine for me, and I ride year round.

Don't really care what it looks like, but I wear my Carhardt Overalls when it gets really cold. They keep my legs warm, as well as the boys!! Now when I say really cold you've got to understand that I'm from Southeast Texas!

Late,

+1, would like to see the outcome of that. Better yet, wander up to the next group you see wearing chaps and let them know you think they look gay, then post here so we can send flowers. I'm with the crowd that believes a lot of you seem to have some latent homosexual tendencies. At the very least, some strange gay obsession that makes you an authority of what looks gay. Personally, I don't check out another man long enough to determine if he might be gay or not, since I'm straight, why do I care? Oh, now I get it, you guys are looking for potential "life partners".

YYYYMCAAA its fun to stay at the YYYYMCAAAYAAA

Seriously I wear em when its cold but I've been thinkin about some leather bibs though for when its colder than just a little cool like <30. My thinkin is it would keep the jewels from freezin AND help with wind under the jacket. Just another layer over the core and kidneys if that makes sense.

i personally think chaps look gay, but thats my opinion. i'm sure they work well, doesn't change the way i think they look. if you like them wear them. if you don't like then don't.

I understand it's just an opinion, but why not ugly, stupid, silly or any other adjective? When you say something looks gay, exactly what does that mean? When you see a man in chaps does that conjure up an image in your mind of men having sex? Now, that's gay! And IT IS YOUR MIND thinking it, so by default we should assume people who think chaps are gay are probably gay themselves, at least in their minds? Ahh, another gay assless chap thread for amusement.

That was definately not the intention of this thread, it was a question about functionality. Its just that some people turn every thread in here into an argument.
