Tell someone that doesn't know any better that...The riser bolts usually need to be loosened and the handle bar clamp loosened also.and straightened and aligned and tightened in the correct order for them to stay lined up...I have fixed many of them over the years...

How are we suppossed to pick the bike up?

I was taught to grab one bar, and grab another place on the bike...while facing away with my butt against the seat and lift with the legs.

Swap your standard issue rubber riser bushings for some P/U bushings, should fix the problem.
