I have learned that all the HEAT we hate in the summer months is no where to be found in the winter months.

My best advice is to buy some Gerbing heated gear. It is GREAT!

RDN--you might be onto something here. Normally I thought riding boots were the safest way to go.

But if bare feet,sandals or flip flops brings me closer to the heat source and wards off hypothermia. That might be a good trade off right?

The heat from the primary will keep your left foot warm and the heat from the exhaust header will keep your right foot warm. Once your feet are warm you'll be good to go.

Two tank tops, long johns under the shorts & socks with the flip flops should be fine for 31°.
