Default can money be made on buying an 06 model?

Would it be impossible to buy a new 06 model and make money on it? If so, which model would be the best bet?

I guess it depends on how much you pay for it and how much you sell it for I'm not sure I understand the question. If it's related to the changes in the '07 models...there's a ton of threads with info on just that. If you have an '06 and have buyer's remorse because of the '07 then I think you're in uncharted territory in regards to re-sale value. In that case...give it a shot and let us know...god knows there's a ton of people that would like to know, just look at how many posts there are about it!

Dont know about actually making a profit if you try to turn around and sell it. But if you want a kill deal wait as long as you can and snag an '06. I bought my Springer in August/September of '06 and got a smokin deal, I later found out that the dealer was a high priced dealership, but they had so many '05's left and '06's waiting to be assembled so they were working deals. So I got my '05 for under MSRP.

I'd say no because you have to pay tax, title, and registration and that's going to take away any difference you might cover purely on the buy and sale.

I have an 06 Herritage Softtail Classic. I'm not interested in selling it or trading to an 07. I am perfectly happy with it. My original question was merely a business question of buying and selling, quick turnover. I agree about the taxes, they would eat most if not all of the profit. Gotta luv Uncle Sam... I do think if you got a killer deal, and you couldn't turn it over for profit, you would at least break even if the idea didn't pan out. Thanks for the input though.

It is exremely unlikely that you could make a profit. However, it is very likely a buyer could get a real deal on an 06'.
IMO though, it is only a deal for someone that just can't afford the 07'. I'd be surprised if you would get much more than a couple of thousand off of MSLP on a 06' and for me if I was buying a new bike I'd spend the extra for a much better bike.
This opinion of coarse is base on the fact that the 07's don't have any "issues".

Might make a buck or two if you can get a carbed model.

I posed this question to a dealer today. His choice was an 06 Sportster 1200 custom. His reasons were price, carb, sound. That was his only choice. Dunno if it was an honest answer or if he had a thousand he needed to sell. Just more to ponder i guess.
